Lonza Launches PepZin GI™
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently allowed the sale of PepZin GI™ from Lonza, Inc., Fairlawn, NJ. PepZin GI is a patented zinc-carnosine complex supported by several human and animal studies. Lonza has an exclusive distribution agreement with Hamari Chemicals Ltd., Osaka, Japan, to market the ingredient in North America and Europe. PepZin GI has been used in Japan for over a decade as an ulcer-healing drug under the generic name Polaprezinc (INN). Hamari Chemicals manufactures and holds the pa­tents on this compound.
